Vision & Mission

Noble Street Charter School’s mission is to prepare Chicago’s youth to function successfully in society through commitment to educational excellence, civic responsibility and respect for the community, environment and people from all walks of life.  Noble Street’s vision and core values are related to this important mission.

In 2007, Noble Street leaders launched Noble Vision 2020, an exciting goal that unites students, teachers, parents, community members and supporters.  Noble Vision 2020 is our shared goal to prepare 2,020 new college graduates – most of whom would not have considered college without Noble Street – by the year 2020.  Achieving this exciting goal will change the trajectory of more than 2,000 families’ lives and impact Chicago significantly.  It is only possible if everyone commits their energy to this effort.

To achieve the Noble Street mission, each Noble Street charter high school campus creates and environment that:

  • Provides students with a rigorous secondary school education
  • Prepares students to be successful, contributing members of society
  • Promotes service to the community as part of the students’ learning component
  • Makes students aware of the ecological system in which they live and expose them to measures they can take to improve the health of that system
  • Underscores the relationships between academic subjects through an integrated curriculum
  • Nurtures the emotional, mental and physical well being of each member of our community
  • Maintains an intimate learning environment through small classes, advisories and parent contact
  • Cultivates the student’s desire to express him/herself creatively and constructively through a professionally integrated arts curriculum
  • Challenges the comfort zones of our students through participation in volunteer programs and college enrichment experiences throughout the United States
  • Maintains a school that is intimate enough for students to be comfortable building lasting relationships with faculty and other students

The school’s vision is to provide a superior education to its students, and achieve positive change in Chicago education by:

  • Ensuring the availability of high-quality school choice to students in Chicago
  • Impacting traditional urban public education more broadly, both through its own successful charter replication and by supporting others’ replication efforts

Noble Street Charter School high school campuses provide choice to underserved Chicago families in order to:

  • Increase the academic performance of Chicago’s diverse students
  • Catalyze change in Chicago public education
  • Share successful practices with other educators and administrators in Chicago and cities across the country

Noble Street’s core values support its vision and mission.

Quality:  Commitment to excellence and the discipline to continually improve.

Customer Service:  Recognize that Noble Street is a school of choice and therefore we will prioritize responsiveness to the needs of parents, students, teachers and external partners.

Accountability and Discipline: Individual and group responsibility and ownership for results, actions and decisions.

High Expectations:  Focus on clearly defined and measurable high expectations for academic achievement and conduct that make no excuses based on the background of students.

Power to Lead:  The principals of our campuses are effective academic and organizational leaders who understand that great schools require great school leaders. They have control over their campus budget and personnel, and the autonomy to choose a curriculum that will enable their students to meet academic standards.

Time:  Our campus faculties, parents and students recognize that there are no shortcuts when it comes to success in academics and that longer school days and school years are required.
